Another Conversation We Would Probably Have If You Could Have One With Me
A continuation of a previous discussion
You: Wait… Andrea?!
Me: Yep, it’s me.
You: I thought you were just going to take some time off for August. What happened?!
Me: The thing about late summer and early fall is it’s the best time of the year in Pittsburgh, so it’s much more fun to spend that time drinking beer on patios and strolling through the park and eating soft serve ice cream before all the soft serve places close for the season.
You: That makes sense.
Me: Right? The weather is typically not great here, gotta enjoy it while you can.
You: Soooo where’ve you been, what have you been up to??!
Me: Mostly on the couch, re-watching Gilmore Girls for the billionth time in 20 years.
You: Andrea.
Me: What, it’s the best time of year to do it!
You: Fine, but for real, nothing new?
Me: Well, I got a new coat.
You: That’s… some coat.
Me: I assume you’re saying that with the same affection in which Charlotte once wove “Some Pig!” into her spiderweb, to which I say: thank you very much.
You: Sure, let’s go with that.
Me: Plus, I’m moving to Vermont in about a month, so the coat will come in handy.
You: Andrea.
Me: Burlington, Vermont, to be more specific.
You: WAY TO BURY THE LEDE
Me: I know, I know, I knowwww, but I don’t know, it can feel weird to talk about good news without a punchline and this is apparently not a joke, wild! I’m going to be a producer for Vermont Public and I’m very excited about it.
You: What do you know about Vermont so far?
Me: I know that Vermont holds elections for governor every two years, there’s a funny sibling rivalry with New Hampshire next door, and I’ll definitely need to get snow tires. Also, my favorite summer sweet treat is called a 'creemee,’ never ever soft serve.
You: A good thing to know, as someone who loves ice cream like you do.
Me: Right? Very important.
You: Congrats on the job, by the way.
Me: Thanks, the job hunt has been a ~whole thing~ as most things are, but everything about this feels right and I can’t wait to get started. Anyway, what’s new with you?
You: Absolutely nothing.
Me: Well, isn’t that something.
Yes, that’s right, I’m moving to Vermont in December. You can buy me a cup of Vermont coffee here or here which will both help keep me caffeinated AND keep me warm. Onward to the Green Mountain State!
Congrats!! Between a new NPR gig and a great new coat, this is great news all around.
Woohoo! Congrats on the coat and the job and the move! That's all so exciting!
